Basically i've installed RC1 x86 and didnt have the serial handy so bypassed the enter key part (so shows 14 day trial) once booted up was able to get into 2nd HD where i had XP installed (where i stored serial key at) now find i cannot activate Vista as it doesnt accept the key i got from microsoft... When I installed Vista I selected Home premium, figuring any version was available to trial, guess not, so what version is key for and how do i fix short of reinstall, and if reinstall needed does entering key auto select version??? |

More than likely, you will only be able to use the key as Vista Ultimate. I am not sure how to undo it short of a re-install but I could be wrong. yes, the key will dictate the version.. The key provided by Microsoft is for the ultimate version which includes everything. You can't activate the lesser versions, but you can trial them for 14 days. The idea behind this testing program is to check out all aspects of the OS and report issues, so MS wants you to activate and use the ultimate version. |
