Hello Mr. Andrew

How can you say that you cannot. Depending which\what type of =
motherboard you can or you cannot. Please do not tell people the wrong =
things. It does not help others. If you do not know the answer then =
please do not post an answer that is not helpful.

Interestingly, in response to such a vague question from
the OP, Andrew's response was essentially correct although
it might not have been relevant, depending on whether the
OP's original CPU is or is not an AMD.

Re: upgrade Options Advertisers

the only style motherboards that i can think of that will take both AMD and
Intel are the socket 7 and older boards, besides, who said it was an AMD in
the first place, it might be a cyrix, or something else... either way, the
motherboard needs replacement or just buy/build a new box... im still trying
to figure out how this post relates to windows xp

Hi, to answer this question, we need some more details about your
current machine. At a very teast, the motherboard model.

And the intended replacement processor. I presume you don't mean

You definately will need a new motherboard if you want to go with an
Intel chip, then.

Post to a hardware newsgroup. It's not an XP OS issue.
