Automatic updates Options Advertisers

A dialog box labelled "Automatic Updates" is on my screen. The box
says "Updating your computer is almost complete. You must restart your
computer for the updates to take effect. Do you want to restart your
computer now?". The box has a "Restart Now" button and a "Restart
Later" button; however, both buttons are greyed out (clicking either
button does nothing).

I have restarted my computer but the dialog box always reappears.
I have even shut-down and started my computer but the dialog box always
reappears.

Now what can I do?

Not very much. Visit the Microsoft Update site and install the available
update/s from there. http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx

Re: Automatic updates Options Advertisers

Hello d-d,

As you suggested, I went to the Microsoft Update site and installed
the available
updates from there.

However, the "Automatic Updates" box is STILL on my screen and both its
"Restart Now" and "Restart Later" buttons are greyed out.

How do I get rid of the "Autormatic Updates" box?

Well, this happens from time to time with some of my machines as well,
although I download all the updates in order to install them on several
machines. Usually, that box appears when going online prior to instal-
ling the downloaded patches and disappears when restarting after instal-
ling the updates. Sometimes, however, that box disappears the next day.
You may want to be patient...
