I installed XP home on apc that already had Windows 2000, which I kept installed. I would like to uninstall XP, but cannot figure out how. Is this possible? |

Was this an upgrade or a dual install? John Randy wrote: > I installed XP home on apc that already had Windows 2000, which I kept > installed. I would like to uninstall XP, but cannot figure out how. Is this > possible? |

Interesting. Windows XP Home cannot be used to upgrade Windows NT 4.0 Workstation or Windows 2000 Professional. If you need to upgrade one of these two OSes, you must use Windows XP Professional. Hmmm. Yes now that you mention that I wonder too what is going on. John Tom Willett wrote: > Interesting. If you need to upgrade one > of these two OSes, you must use Windows XP Professional. Note that in his first message, he says "Windows 2000, which I kept installed." If that's correct, his second message saying he performed an upgrade is obviously false. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup > "Randy" <Randy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:CF1770AA-E5DC-4467-BFCB-3839DA097AAF@microsoft.com... >> It was upgrade >> >> "John John" wrote: >> >>> Was this an upgrade or a dual install? >>> >>> John >>> >>> Randy wrote: >>> >>>> I installed XP home on apc that already had Windows 2000, which I >>>> kept installed. If you told the Windows XP setup program to save the old operating system information you can look in the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and see if it's there to remove and revert to the previous operating system. If it's not there you will have to format and reinstall Windows 2000 from scratch. Presuming you put it on it's own partition, boot from Windows 2000 and reformat the XP partition. Randy wrote: > I installed XP home on apc that already had Windows 2000, which I kept > installed. I would like to uninstall XP, but cannot figure out how. Is this > possible? |
