Tool bars go black 5 min after start up. Options Advertisers

I was going to do a clean install but after reading the posts about most
problems being repairable:
Approx. 5 min. after start up I will hear a click or chirp from the tower
then the tool bar and tray will go from blue to black. The icons will remain
the same just the back ground turns black.
Then it slowly changes back to blue. Most of the time. Lately it has been
staying black. And if I am executing a command when this happens it usually
freezes up. Any thoughts?

Open up your case and check your vid card fan.

May be frozen.

Check all the other fans and clean out all the crud
from all heatsinks while you're in there.

Could be a bad PSU too.

Power Supply Unit.

They are mostly made waaayyy too cheaply nowadays
and start to supply out-of-tolerance voltage levels after
some use.

Then there is probably something wrong with your video card. Uninstall
it and then swap it out for a known-working one.

If you haven't got an extra video card, you can't do the testing
yourself, and/or are uncomfortable opening your computer, take the
machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local
equivalent of BigStoreUSA).
