Not another MS download! Options Advertisers

I have received windows genuine advantage notification (KB905474) over 6
times. I let it install at least twice and believe its on my system. HOWEVER
I am still getting notifications of this " new update" every few days.
PLEASE tell me how to make them stop.
And yes my XP is genuine from Dell.
Mel

Microsoft is so generous as to assume ALL users are thieves and has
adopted a policy of making us prove we're not on a regular basis. It's a
D*#& shame the US government didn't bust the company up the way they did
AT&T. We'll probably have to put up with it until we're finally driven
to switching to Linux.

Try the following; When update notice appears select "custom" choice (not
express) installation - uncheck the update - check option not to notify you
of this update again.

You will no longer be eligible for updates if you do that. I did that a
week or two ago and have had no updates show up since.

Well it seems to have stopped that one (thanks AJR) and I will see what
happens now.

Not sure about your setup, but I have NEVER installed the WGA Notification
"security" update, and never will. I told it to never show me it again, and
still receive updates from MS (actually 10 new ones as of yesterday!)
Generally they are only released once a month, so this could explain why
you've not gotten any recently...

Mel here again. Shortly after my post I received a group of 6 or so updates
one of which was wga again. I installed all except wga. Since then got a
group of 6 or eight more and installed them except for WGA. Didn't have time
to see if they were repeats of the first group or not.
The M$ saga continues.
