Office 2007 Beta 2 Download Options Advertisers

I followed the process to register for the download. It took me through a
confirmation e-mail and then to a MSN site with no obvious way to download
the product. Subsequent attempts to access the download result in a statement
that the site has been used and is no longer valid. Obviously, I missed
something. Is there a way for me to get the beta software?

It is possible that the download option was missing because I was not
accessing the site with internet Explorer. I hope someone has an aswer.

Re: Office 2007 Beta 2 Download Options Advertisers

This is the site I was referring to. A passport account has to be created
prior to downloading the Beta software. This includes an e-mail address
verification. After this is complete, I was taken to a MSN site with no
obvious way to download the software. Assuming I had missed the boat
somewhere, I shut the web page and entered the process again. This time I
received a notice that the e-mail address verification page had been used and
was no longer available. I still could not get to a page where I could
download the software.

Try signing up for the beta preview again and access the site with IE
instead of a different browser when you get the email. I read something
about this somewhere, but I can't remember either where or exactly what!
(Sorry!)

Re: Office 2007 Beta 2 Download Options Advertisers

I believe I have found the problem. I went to the microsoft Profile Center:

https://profile.microsoft.com/RegSysProfileCenter/default.aspx?lcid=1033

I found that my download web account profile (MSN profile) existed but there
was no entry for my e-mail address on the Personal information page. I went
to the e-mail update screen and attempted to add my address. It would not let
me. I had returned to the Beta download screen several times in my attempt to
get the software. I accessed the e-mail validation link each time. There is a
counter on it and I exceeded the three attempt limit. This has the effect of
freezing the account so it is unusable. I have not been able to delete the
account as yet and start over. However, I had another e-mail account that
already was registered with MSN. I was able to use it to start the download
process (no address verification needed since it was already registered with
MSN). I was told that a hotmail account can be established and used for the
download but have not tried it.

That is correct. I used my hotmail account for downloading the beta 2.
(The hotmail account is a passport account, at the same time.)

Re: Office 2007 Beta 2 Download Options Advertisers

I have now successfully downloaded and installed the Beta 2 software and
registered it. So far, so good. I think it may be key to create the MSN
account as one step and validate the e-mail address. Then, download the
software as a second step. That way you will not get routed to the wrong page
after e-mail validation.

One further correction. The database in question that gets corrupted is not
the MSN database. It is not the windows Live Database. It is not a hotmail
database. It is the Microsoft.com database. microsoft does not seem to have
provided a means for clearing the three times counter for e-mail verification.

I guess I am thick--I still don't get it! I have gone to all the pages
suggested in these posts, and I already have my product key, but I don't find
a working link to the actual download! My profile info. all seems correct,
but I see no link there. Can y'all be even more explicit? Thanks!

Paul, I don't "get to the webpage containing the product key"--the key was
sent to me by Microsoft, but I haven't yet found the page you describe.

Re: Office 2007 Beta 2 Download Options Advertisers

Paul, your post was/is still the most helpful, but the process is screwy! I
did get it downloaded and installed over the weekend--now I'm trying to live
with the new version!
What is still not clear to many users, I am sure, is that the link to the
download is not something you receive later or somewhere you are sent--it is
on the same page where you click on the link to get your product key. I
finally found my way back there (which isn't hard once you realize where it
is) and clicked on the product name, and that is the secret.
Thanks for your help!

RE: Office 2007 Beta 2 Download Options Advertisers

I'm having a problem just getting the email. It says "email has been
successfully sent" etc. to the correct address, but it never arrives.
There's a note on the page saying "if you don't receive an email in three
tries, contact us", which link, of course, takes me to the generic support
site. I've tried four times, now. Does anyone have an actual contact
address for this problem? Many thanks.
