registry Options Advertisers

G'day

Does anyone know what this means and how to fix this issuse:

When re-installing Symantec's LIVE UPDATE on my DELL-PERCISION 670
(WinXP-pro, SP2), Live Update cannot install one of its components because it
says I need "... write access to registry." ???

Shouldn't I already have registry rights if the user Account I am installing
this program with, has admin.priviledges - and was the same account that
installed it the first place?

Have I done something to my reigistry that has disabled this "write"
function, how can I find out and how can I fix this?

Anyone's help is greatly appreciated!!!

Make sure your user account has administrative priviliges. You can check
this by going to "Control Panel" the "User Accounts". If you are not listed
as and "administer" click on your account and then click on "account types"
and set your account for "administer". Then go to the registry. click on
"Start", click on "Run" and then enter "Regedit" and click "OK" Right click
on "Current User" and on the drop down menu click on "Permissions". On the
top panel, make sure your account is listed and on the bottom panel make
sure "allow" is checked for read and write permissions. Also on the top
panel click on "Add" and add "Administrators" and click "OK". click on
"Add" again and add "System" and click "OK". Then on the bottom panel the
permissions for read and write for the new additions are set for "allow".
Hope this helps.

Regards,
Bill

Thanks Bill,

I will go on ahead and try what you had suggested -particulary the
Permissions section about the registry keys.

Cheers!
