,I am using MS Office Word & Excel 2003 SP2 with MS Office Pro 2003 Before, when I was using an earlier Office ,there was an option " Always create a backup " Now that I'm using Office 2003 I still want to be able to 'always create a backup' of both Word & Excel files. In Excel, the nearest I can get to it, is the option ' Automatically save a backup copy of a workbook' every x minutes. Is it possible to create a backup as in the earlier versions of Office?. -- chequer |

In Word 2003 when I go to ‘Tools’ in the ‘SaveAs’ box,m and select ‘Save options’ the options I have checked are: Always create a backup copy, Allow background saves, Embed linguistic data, Save AutoRecover info every, I have 3 mins.,. Embed Smart saves and as the default format I have, Word Document (*.doc) This is exactly the same as in the Option box when I got to Tools/Options/Save In Excel at Tools/Options/Save, the only option I have is, Save AutoRecover info every, I have 3 mins. This option is checked. The Location is : C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\ In Workbook option I have ‘Disable Auto recover’ unchecked. If I work on the file I want to create the backup for, for over the selected time, 3 mins., then Save or SaveAs it doesn’t create a backup. If the file name is ‘Create’ then I should have a file named, ‘Backup of Create .’ All I am getting is ~$Create, this disappears after I re-save the file. When I was using Word 2k and getting ‘Backup of Create’ it would remain permanently as a file. This was handy if I accidentally lost or deleted the file I was working on as I could then open the backup of the file.. -- chequer "DL" wrote: > Word: Tools/Options/Save > Much the same as office2k I recollect, the excel option is the same. > > "chequer" <chequer@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:F981459B-3238-4A56-B83F-512206F8CCD8@microsoft.com... > > ,I am using MS Office Word & Excel 2003 SP2 with MS Office Pro 2003 > > Before, when I was using an earlier Office ,there was an option " Always > > create a backup " > > Now that I'm using Office 2003 I still want to be able to 'always create a > > backup' of both Word & Excel files. > > In Excel, the nearest I can get to it, is the option ' Automatically save > a > > backup copy of a workbook' every x minutes. > > Is it possible to create a backup as in the earlier versions of Office?. > > > > -- > > chequer > > > |
