My friend has got a fairly new computer with Windows XP installed on it. There is a sticker/label on the side of the computer containing the product key. However when he boots up he is confronted with an error message which says the product key is invalid. He has a windows xp OEM disk. What could have gone wrong. How can he fix it? Sid. |

you can also reinstall windows with the cd. insert cd and run setup from the desktop or run the cd from boot up. when you select new install, windows will see a copy of the o.s. already installed and provide the option to repair windows. then it will ask for the key, which you should have on the cd. if it works your ok. if not it will simply give you a toll free number where a rep will give you the activation code.... (the vendor probably installed windows on all the computers using a disk image method.)
